Ministry at St. Michael's

We believe that by virtue of our baptism, we are all called to be ministers in the Church.  All that we do in preparation to glorify God on Sunday morning, and all that we do to live Jesus' commandment to love others as we love ourselves, IS in fact ministry.  Serving as an acolyte or Lay Eucharistic Minister, setting the altar or folding bulletins, organizing Christmas gifts for children in foster care or helping with Laundry Love - it is ALL ministry, and all vital to our life together at Christians.

Laundry Love

Laundry Love-Hays is part of a national initiative that seeks to bring economic relief to those who are struggling financially. For us, Laundry Love is outreach ministry in which we  demonstrate God's love for others in a very practical way. On the third Tuesday of every month, from 6:00-9:00 p.m., we provide the detergent and the quarters for people in need to do their laundry for free.  Guests do not need to demonstrate their need. We gratefully partner with the 27th and Hall Street Laundromat for this ministry. Contact us for more information.

Adult Education

Throughout much of the year, we get together on Wednesdays following Evening Prayer for a light meal (5:45) and group study/discussion (6:15-7:30), where questions and open, honest conversation are encouraged. Topics change from time to time. We may study a book of the Bible, discuss a Christian book or explore the lectionary (Scripture) readings for Sunday.  Contact us if you have questions. All are welcome, and no RSVPs are required.

Sunday Ministries

As baptized Christians, we are all called to ministry. Many lay people use their gifts to make Sunday morning special, from serving as a lector (reader), preparing the altar (Altar Guild), serving as a Lay Eucharistic Minister, preparing the bulletin, hosting coffee hour and more. These are all vital, recognized ministries at St. Michael's.

Weddings at St. Michael's

If you are interesting in having a wedding at St. Michael's, we would love to visit with you. Consistent with the canons (laws) of the Episcopal Church, one of you must be a baptized Christian and you will need to agree to use one of the Episcopal marriage rites for your ceremony. Also, you will be expected to participate as a couple in a number of premarital counseling sessions with the priest officiating your wedding to explore the commitment the two of you wish to make and to plan your special day. Please contact us in order to begin the conversation!
